My boyfriend and I have been really realy down and tired the last couple weeks. We both had colds a few weeks ago but they went away. Now it seems like we could sleep all day long, its unusual that we are this tired and not motivated.

Your lethargy being unusual should be enough of a motivation. There is no shame in being tested for mono despite its nickname of the "kissing" disease. It is highly contagious, but not everyone gets it.

You may have to ask your doctor specifically to test for it though because the jerk doctor we had didn’t diagnose my brother with it and, left untreated, it attacked his spleen and ruptured it.
The point is that he ended up dead from a mis-diagnosis or maybe I should say non-diagnosis.
Not to scare you at all really. Just letting you know that it can affect other things that can turn serious if you ignore it.

Something else you may want to do is get a physical with bloodwork to make sure you don’t have anemia, although with both of you suffering, that’s probably not the case.

Do everyone a favor and get tested and dont let the doctor or anyone else blow you off until you get an answer.

My brother tested positive for Strep throat and after being on the medicine he was still not better so they then decided to test him for mono. He had the soar throat, continually tired and couldn’t eat.

Check out this Center for Disease Control article about mono if you want to know more: http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/diseases/ebv.htm

Basically there’s a couple things to look out for, lethargy/tiredness are key, but also persistent sore throat and swollen glands are key things to look for. If you have these and they aren’t going away you should go in and get tested. It could just be you have seasonal colds or are just not getting enough sleep or proper diet. Making sure to consume more liquids and vitamin C will certainly help whether you have mono or not, so start there watch for persistent symptoms and then see the doctor if you’re still feeling sick.
