Author: I always thought it was just a joke like when people say "sleep tight, don’t let the bed bugs bite" but I guess there really are such things as bed bugs. So I’m just wondering what they look like, where they come from, and what they do? Maybe it sounds like a stupid question, but I really want to know.

They are real.They live in infected bedding and bite you while you are sleeping
I always assumed (tho I’m probably wrong) that this was in reference to mites that can live in you bedding and pillows, furniture, etc.
