Skin moles, medically speaking, are known as nevi, and differ in size, shape and texture. Statistically speaking, a normal person has 10 to 50 moles in different parts of his body. Each person is born with the total number of moles he will ever have. Most are invisible at birth and as one ages, the moles become darker and more visible.

Removing a mole is not that big a necessity. Mole removal is only recommended when the mole in question is unsightly (dark and hairy) or poses as a health risk. Dysplastic moles or moles causing skin cancer are almost always removed by a surgeon – check out mole removal for additional guidance associated with this area.

The three common procedures used in skin removal involves surgery, the use of a laser, and the use of an acid drop. The latter is not advisable as complications might occur. If acid drops are applied by a layman, there is the risk that the acid will damage healthy skin tissues along with the mole. Deeply rooted moles will not benefit from laser mole removal.

There are two typical types of surgical procedure for mole removal. One of these is excising the mole and using stitches. A scalpel is used by a surgeon in this first procedure to remove the part of the mole that is showing. When the rest of the mole can be seen, it will then be dug out cut out, after which the wound will be sutured. The second type is cutting the mole open, exposing its inner parts, and then cauterizing the rest of the mole by utilizing an electric needle.

A new procedure called cryosurgery calls for the application of liquid nitrogen to the skin mole. Because liquid nitrogen is extremely cold, it will destroy the skin mole completely, thus, surgery or laser therapy is no longer recommended. If you want minimal scarring, then both cryosurgery as well as laser therapy are the best options. However, the type and size of the mole dictates the type of procedure that is best used for the mole removal.

The risks involved in removing moles include scarring of the area, infection of the wound, and an allergic drug reaction – visit thermage uk for more guidance pertaining to this topic area. Infection can be prevented with the proper wound care such as keeping the wound clean and dry until the wound completely heals. Prior to the surgery though, it is recommended that you check to see if you are allergic to anesthetic drugs.

You probably already know just what every single thing in your medicine box should be used to cure. You are aware that if your tummy hurts, you need to take an antacid. You know that an allergy flare up demands the use of an antihistamine. You know that a headache calls for ibuprofen or acetaminophen. Did you know, however, that basically all of the stuff in your medicine box can be applied to a lot of other ailments too? Consider these uncommon remedies for typical household problems.

You are aware that you need to take an antacid like Alka Seltzer to help calm heartburn or a stomach that is acting up. Are you aware, however, that Alka Seltzer and other antacids can also be used to soothe the painful feelings that come with bug bites? This is because most antacids (like Alka Seltzer for example) have aspirin in them and that lowers how much pain and stinging you feel when you get an insect bit. Create a paste with a bit of oatmeal, water and a smashed up antacid tablet. Put it on to the area that has the bite and you will see a quick soothing of the bite. This usually works so much better than those products that are created for the same purpose, like calamine lotion.

It’s not an unusual story:  you go to the doctor for eczema (or a related dermatological problem) and are prescribed cream when you were hoping for an ointment – if you were disappointed, you might want to learn more about drug formulation.

It’s likely that when you think of pharmaceutical development, you think of a research team coming up with a drug discovery, and then testing, approving, and selling this drug.  This is true, to a degree, but a closer look at the process reveals a much more complicated process.  To start, certain teams of researchers exist solely to discover promising drug pathways, after which more sets of teams seek to refine the drug.

Formulation development is the specific area of determining the best way to deliver a particular drug.   Using the field of dermatology as an example, we can examine why certain formulations are used for certain treatments.

Say an eczema patient see his or her doctor looking for help with moisturizing; it’s not unusual for a doctor to prescribe a cream.  Creams typically are composed of ½ oil and ½ water, which forms an emulsion of oil to penetrate beneath the outer layer of skin.  Creams don’t deliver an optimal barrier to loss of moisture when stacked up against an ointment, though.  Ointments contain about 80% oil to 20% water, which increases its effectiveness as a moisturizer.  So, why would the doctor prescribe a cream over an ointment?  Well, the likelihood is that the active ingredient to treat eczema in the cream is more effectively delivered in the 50/50 formulation.

This example highlights the importance of formulating a drug treatment that is most effective at delivering the benefits of a specific active ingredient.  The cream is formulated for one specific set of symptoms and the ointment is formulated for a slightly different set of symptoms.  Both treatments take a similar form, with different results.

Next time you take a medication, you can rest easy in the knowledge that a team of scientists very likely worked many months coming up with the ideal set of active and inactive ingredients to alleviate your symptoms.

My 16 year old friend is struggling with bulimia/anorexia. For the past month she hasnt been eating, and if she has she throws it up. I am the only one she has told and i have finally convinced her to see a doctor. She is worried about her mom finding out though from the doctor. Because she is underage, is the doctor required to tell her mom about her disorder or is her secret safe in the doctors hands?

Also, this maybe a dumb question, but is there medicine a doctor can give her? What will a doctor do for her?

It used to be worse then it is now. I still have thought blocking though. Did this get better because of the medicine? What class of symptom is this and since it got a little better on a higher dose what is the chance that it will fully go away if I keep raising the dose?

Also; many of their friends in medicine could lose income if there is a cure.
Could these researchers be persuaded or bribed to stay away from a cure?
I’ve noticed that most of the progress comes in early detection. Is this not suspicious?
I don’t like to insult anyone, but I also don’t want to be naive.

On the box of Tylenol cold and flu, it says that it’s meant to relieve symptoms like fever, coughing, and congestion. In biology class last year, i got the message that symptoms are there for a reason, and relieving them will do you no good. For example, your body gets a fever so the immune system can speed up to fight the infection faster. If you take any medicine that might relieve a fever, you’re slowing down your immune system. I’m not saying I’m completely correct, this is just what i was led to believe.

Experts, is it bad to take symptom relief medicine?
Thanks!!

I’m just asking this question is because my project about this on infectious disease is due tomorrow so I need informations about it and also what kind of medicine that can cure people from it.

My child has Pink Eye but the doctor said the medicine isnt working like it should. I, when it comes to my children, always fear the worst. Is Pink Eye a symptom of perhaps a more dangerous illness?
