Deciding to buy dental insurance for yourself is a good idea. Dental problems can often catch us unawares and this could mean us ending up needing to get emergency treatment but being unable to pay for it. You just never can tell when you might end up suffering from tooth problems. It is therefore sensible to have some type of insurance so that at least it won’t dent our finances too much if we do suddenly need treatment. Below are just some of the things that you need to know if you are making a first time dental insurance purchase:
Before signing up for any particular dental insurance plan, you should make sure you understand the differences between the various ones available. In order to do this you will have to do some web research or make sure you are asking your broker the right questions. It is not very likely that the first plan you are offered is going to be the best one for you so it would be unwise to choose it.

Some types of dental insurance require for you to pay the money to the dentist and then claim it back from them. This is a great plan for those who have plenty of spare cash. But this option is not the best choice for those who know they won’t have the money to pay for the treatment and who are getting dental insurance because of this.
Don’t forget that there will be limitations on what you can and can’t claim for. A cheaper plan may only cover you for emergency treatment. A comprehensive plan will usually cover routine treatment and preventative treatment so this is worth considering.

I called to set up an appointment for an "annual physical". They said if I had any health complaints they’d have to be discussed in a separate appointment? What is an annual if it isn’t to report your health concerns to your doctor?
I think they want to be able to bill the insurance separately for things. Like they want to say the insurance won’t pay for a "complaint visit" and an "annual visit". I really think it’s a ploy to get me in there multiple times for more $$. I don’t have time for that nonsense.
I have SAD, and my doctor is hesitant to prescribe an anti-depressant, and a Light Box is extremely expensive. Our insurance covers almost any medication/prescription. Just curious if you think a doctor can prescribe a light box.
I have a problem that doctors around don’t seem capable of addressing. Something with my eyes, it is irrelevant here.
I’ve seen many doctors, including the two top Dallas ones in the field and they just didn’t get it, in the little time they could devote to it. And it’s bad (for me).
So I started looking out of state for alternatives.
In Boston, Mass, for example, they told me a doctor could see me if I go there on 18th of February. Hell I lose vision by the day!
Same is everywhere else and, worst of all, I’ve already seen it at work. Even if you’re admitted tomorrow, you’re going to see a doctor for about 3 minutes regardless of what your case is. Their time is scheduled for a 3 minute case.
Is there some place or some way I can get to pay to a doctor in a fashion similar to the way I would pay an attorney or an accountant and book as many hours as I deem appropriate for resolving my case?
Something like a private health investigator that you actually get to talk to?
I do have insurance and I can certainly afford to pay per hour at almost whatever rate, if one existed at all.
Suggestions to see an optometrist are plainly stupid (sorry!) given I stated I’ve seen the best two doctors in the area. I have certainly made my way through optometrist and no, they do not usually refer you to the right places. Correction, they do not usually refer ME to the right places, should they refer to anything at all.
I am split between awarding best answer to the guy who simply spells it out clearly – YOU CAN’T (which is what I’ve come to and is just hard to take in) and the guy who sends me to alternative healthcare, for the good will and at least somewhat direction.
I need to buy time from a top notch eye / face / nerve specialist. I can certainly afford it.
What nails me is that there’s nobody willing to take my money in this wholly money run country!
Talk about irony…
Hi, I took a friend to an appointment yesterday at an insurance office and asked the women there if they knew of any work at home jobs available. They really didn’t know of anything specific, but one woman had a friend who’s husband is a P.A. and was up real late at night typing. She assumed he was typing medical transcripts…anyway, she asked me if I was interested and I definitely am, but now I’m wondering if you HAVE to take classes to do this work. I have seen sites that require college training so I wasn’t sure. Thanks for any responses!
Do doctors really turn you away? Are there any groups that get you help? For instance if you get cancer or another disease? Im sure you dont get good care but do you get none at all? What has happened to all the people that had no insurance? What hope do you have?
My mom has no insurance, under 65. I want to take my mom to a eye exam to diagnose cataract. Should we visit ophthalmologists,Optometrists or Opticians? How I can find a doctor charge reasonable price for eye exam to diagnose cataract? How much will this cost?
I don’t have any insurance or medicare . I’ve had chronic skin disease. I am running out of my ointment brought from my country and I can’t buy this ointment directly from pharmacy because it is prescribed drug. How much does it cost to see a doctor for prescription? Can I get it from clinic in walmart?
I’m almost 20, still living at home with my parents, and I’m under their insurance plan. I haven’t had a physical in years, so I want to get my testicles checked out but don’t want to tell my parents about that. What kind of doctor would I see for that? Do I need insurance to visit a doctor? If so, would my parents find out through their insurance provider that I went to see a doctor?
