Is there a way for Americans to research the financial ties between doctors, drug makers and medical device companies? How can patients find out if a doctor is being paid by a certain drug company or receiving perks like free meals and vacations accompanied by lectures? Any insider information from people who work in medicine would be greatly appreciated.

My grandmother was diagnosed with MM about a month ago. Since then she has lost the use of both legs is bed ridden and is now has numbness in her right hand and foot. The doctors told her she would be back to herself in about a month. She has only had 2 treatments of radiation and her pain is unmanageable. She is 86 years of age.

I have had itching in the anus and testicles for the last several months.

I have seen 12 doctors, billed thousands to my health care provider etc etc etc I ordered an Make urine HPV kit form MDLabs and will know on monday.

I am going to keep this simple…
Have any males out there been diagnosed with hpv with the only symptom of itching in the genital region?

Ok, so around the beginning of February I moved into my Aunt’s house. She doesn’t have much money and it’s not the cleanest place. In the inconvenient situation, me, my twin sister, and my two cousins all had to share a bunk bed. The matresses were old… I slept on the bottom and my sister slept on the top.

After a few days I started to notice red itchy spots on my feet and arms, then I eventually got a few basically everywhere. After one night of sleeping on the bottom bunk, my sister, who didn’t have any bumps, started getting the bumps. They’re your typical bed bug bites. Some of them were in clusters of three. We went to the doctors who comfirmed them as bed bugs.

My question: Why didn’t either of my cousins get them? My other cousin, who always slept in the bottom bunk (which had the worse infestation) never got them. Was is because they had been living there for a long time and their bodies were used to it?

My mother explained this to me once, and I know it exists. That medical students or doctors, when they’re reading up on all these different diseases or syndromes, will find the symptoms in their own lives, and believe they are afflicted with that disorder or disease themselves. They usually never are, it’s just the process of learning about it and recognizing the symptoms in their own lives that leads them to believe they are afflicted. It’s like Hypochondria gone wild.

Any help?
i know hypochondria, but is there a broader or more specific term for it when it applies to those studying it?

I wouldn’t say I have SEVERE irritability, but it’s definetely moderate. Could irritability be a symptom of bipolar disorder, too, though? I have anxiety disorders, for sure, but one of my doctors thinks I could be bipolar. I just don’t know…

I’m in the US and edit medical transcription. Please tell me what our doctors can do to make it easier for you. Please get your friends to write me also if they transcribe, and tell me how you learned English, also how you learned the Latin root-words of medical terminology. Do Indians study Latin in school? I’m interested in everthing–just how it is to be a transcriptionist in India; anything at all that you would like to say. Thanks.

My aunt went to the doctor because of a headache. After countless tests she was given Motrin and sent home. Why did her headache stump doctors? Why should one spend money to get tests done if one is going to be sent home with over the counter drugs?

Do doctors really turn you away? Are there any groups that get you help? For instance if you get cancer or another disease? Im sure you dont get good care but do you get none at all? What has happened to all the people that had no insurance? What hope do you have?

To those in the medical transcription field — A guy at work here just told me that the doctors at the office he goes to all use laptops — they carry them from one appointment in the office to the next, and then type in all they need into a program in the laptop. The doctor told him they don’t even use transcribers any more. Do you, as a transcriber, have any experiences with doctors opting for this and getting rid of transcriptionists?
