My 16 year old friend is struggling with bulimia/anorexia. For the past month she hasnt been eating, and if she has she throws it up. I am the only one she has told and i have finally convinced her to see a doctor. She is worried about her mom finding out though from the doctor. Because she is underage, is the doctor required to tell her mom about her disorder or is her secret safe in the doctors hands?
Also, this maybe a dumb question, but is there medicine a doctor can give her? What will a doctor do for her?
I’ve been cutting myself for a while now, but no adults know. I just realized some time in the near future I’m going to have to go to the doctors for a check up.
What would happen if I went and the doctors saw the cuts (or if I stop, the scars) on my arms? What would the doctor do?
Like, what are the scientists and doctors that are trying to find the cure experimenting with and which is the most effective? Are they even close at all to even finding a possible cure?
Basically she’s had horrible symptoms for the last year and a half, has been to over a dozen doctors, had all sorts of scans and tests done, and they don’t know whats wrong. Today I was reading in a magazine at the hair salon about natural remedies to heal "mystery illnesses" and it was an interview with some doctor who specializes in that, but I forgot what kind of doctor that is. Do you know? So I can tell my friend?
I had to go to the doctor for a checkup and various immunizations before college. I wanted to also get tested for STDs. The thing is, I’m pretty sure I don’t have any (I’m not sexually active) but I don’t want any surprises like HPV from sharing lip gloss. Anyway, I went to the doctor last week for a checkup and I wanted to know what diseases the doctors check for.
My nephews dad’s mother has severe Huntington’s disease, my brother in law doesnt yet have any sighns that he may have it but what are the chances of my nephew having it as he gets older? It is a disease that is passed on to your children and that some can have the gean without having the disease. The doctors wont be able to tell if he will get it until he is older. He is only 3 months right now.
Everything I have found online talks about herbs and home remedies. I am not against this but curious as to what doctors actually do for it.
And yes, I am going to see a doctor, I am just wondering.
Thanks everyone! ![]()

Doctors have just discovered a cure for metastatic melanoma. A type of skin cancer. Basically, the doctors genetically re-engineered the AID cell to kill cancer cells. The HIV/AID cell does NOT infect the subject, but only seeks out cancer cells.
My dad died from metastatic melanoma, so I thought I’d do some research.
Now, this is still under testing.. So my question to you is, do you think this will work?
I talked to two different doctors. The doctor I go to said that she had tested me for pelvic inflammatory disease when doing a pap smear by checking for infections, but when I went to another doctor she said the only way to know if an individual has pelvic inflammatory disease is to have a sonogram. So I was wondering what methods doctors can use to diagnose the disease.
