I recently had a physical and my blood work showed I have extremely low cholesterol. Although I am active (at least 6 hours of exercise a week) and I have been struggling with bulimia I am slightly over-weight (a BMI of almost 26). Could the low cholesterol be linked to maybe a thyroid problem or to the bulimia. Also why wouldn’t my weight change to match the cholesterol?

I am under medication "zimvastatin 10mg" due to high levels of cholesterol in my blood. Today I’m having an unusual pain in the right side of the chest. The pain comes on & off. Quite difficult when the pain comes. I did not tell anyone yet. I am in my office. Can anyone please tell me immediately why I have this? It will be of help if any doctor can see this query and answer me.

My mom and dad suffer from high blood pressure,high cholesterol. It run on both sides of the family,that along with diabetes and heart disease. My mom started taking blood pressure medication young,in her later 20′s. My dad suffered from a stroke due to high blood pressure. I am 22yrs old and do not want to suffer this especially while young. Are there any ways I can be proactive about not suffering from those conditions now and later on in life being that it is hereditary? Or do I not have a chance in preventing it?

I just purchased health insurance, I haven’t seen a doctor for a check up in over 10 years. I want to go to get a full check up from cholesterol check to everything else. Am I supposed to select an OB/Gyn or do general docs do pap smears too? And if I select an ob do they also do lab tests for hormone/cholesterol etc tests?
